In 2000 Yahoo! was on the cutting edge of wireless technology and developed more than 20 Yahoo! services (such as Y! Messenger, Calendar, Email, Driving Directions, Yellow Pages, Quotes, Fax-on-Demand, and Shopping) for more than 5 unique wireless technologies (HDML, WML, RIM, T900, and PalmOS). Each platform had its own SDK and a wide range of devices with different button layouts and mappings of physical controls to UI elements.
